Where it all began...

Every team has that one coach. The one who says what everyone else is just thinking. Beard. Baseball hat. The guy we were pretty sure played MLB —because, honestly, he taught the game like he did.

For us, that was The Doc—an assistant coach during our Little League and select baseball days. Now, to be clear, all the coaches were in on it. They joked about it, they lived it, they modeled it. But The Doc was the original yeller.

Dropped a fly ball? Spit half your sunflower seeds down your shirt? Had a big-ass bubble pop straight across your face mask? From the dugout you’d hear:  “BE MORE ATHLETIC!” But here’s the thing—it wasn’t just for the screw-ups. It was also the battle cry.

“We’re gonna win this game… because we’re more athletic.” It became both the rally and the reminder. Swagger when we needed it. A reality check when we earned it.

At first, it made us laugh. Then it fired us up. Soon enough, it became a thing—players, coaches, even parents started saying it. And it stuck. So the guy in the silhouette? That’s The Doc. A tribute to the first one who said it out loud. And a nod to the whole crew who lived it right beside him.

Because Be More Athletic started with a shout— but it turned into a mindset.
